Pride in Brighton

The images in this collection include personal photographs from Pride events over the years. The earliest Pride event in Brighton dates back to 1971, however Pride was reimagined in the early 1990s particularly as a result of lesbian organising stemming from Section 28 protests. The year 1991 is considered the first contemporary Pride in Brighton, consisting of a march and festival. Since then, Pride has grown to a large scale festival.
