Cookie policy
This site sets two cookies, both of which are needed to make it work. Neither of them tracks you.
This page is a draft. It was written from what the website actually does and Queer Heritage South have not yet reviewed it. If anything here matters to a decision you are making, please ask us before relying on it.
Most websites open with a box asking you to accept cookies. This one does not, and the
reason is not that we have skipped it. It is that we have nothing to ask you about.
What we set
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
queer-heritage-south-session |
Remembers your session, so a form you are filling in does not lose what you typed, and so signing in to the volunteer hub works | Two hours, or until you close your browser |
XSRF-TOKEN |
A security token that proves a form was submitted from this site and not from somewhere else pretending to be it | The same |
That is the complete list. Both are set by this website, expire on their own, and are
needed for the site to function, so they do not require your consent under the Privacy and
Electronic Communications Regulations.
We also store one thing in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie: if you
are ever shown a choice about analytics, your answer is remembered under
qhs.analytics-consent so you are not asked again. It stays on your device and is never
sent to us.
What we do not set
No advertising cookies. No social media cookies. No cookies from any company you have not
heard of. Nothing that follows you to another website, and nothing that builds a profile
of you.
Our analytics is Umami, running on our own server. It counts page
views without setting a cookie and without storing your IP address, which is the whole
reason this page can be as short as it is. There is more about it in our
privacy notice.
Cookies somewhere else
Two things on this site take you to another company's website, and once you are there
their cookies and their policies apply, not ours.
Booking a ticket happens on TicketSource. Videos we link to play on YouTube or
Vimeo on their own sites, which is why we link to them rather than embedding a player
here: an embedded player would set cookies on this page before you had chosen to watch
anything.
Turning cookies off
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings.
AbilityNet's guide explains how, along with other ways
to make your device easier to use. Blocking the two cookies above will stop forms and the
volunteer hub sign-in from working, but you will still be able to read the whole site and
the whole archive.
If this ever changes
If we add anything that needs your consent, you will be asked before it is set, and this
page will say what it is. We would rather keep the list where it is.
